The Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute has initiated Gujarat Cancer
Atlas Project with the help of Government of Gujarat. Launching and first meeting
of this project was held on 8th September 2007 at CAMA Hall, GCRI along with CME
in surgical pathology.
Around 150 delegates from all over Gujarat were present in the programme. Many of
them are actively involved in cancer diagnosis.
Mrs. Rita Teotia, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Dept., Govt.
of Gujarat was chief guest along with Dr. A. Nandakumar, Officer Incharge, National
Cancer Registry Programme, Bangalore. Mrs. Teotia had conveyed the desire of government
to help in such projects.
Dr. A. Nandakumar had talked in detail regarding his experience in cancer atlas
programme and practical difficulties of the same. He had given emphasis on team-work
including participation and active involvement by clinical colleagues to join the
project.
